I started my business with $10 and an eLance account.

I may not have a “meager to millionaire” story like some, but I have wanted to be an entrepreneur for as long as I can remember. In high school, I wrote mock business plans for fun.

(Like, as an extracurricular hobby.)

I went to the University of Oregon (#throwyouro), where I got a BS in Business Administration. After graduation I immediately started my corporate marketing career as a Marketing Communications coordinator. At the advice of a mentor, I started learning all I could about digital marketing and taking on more digital projects at work.

In fact, I clearly remember the day I created a fake Facebook account in the name of the company I worked for, because Facebook didn’t even have business pages yet. Yeah, I’ve been in this space that long!

But even from my first day on the job, I knew that I wanted to own my own business someday.

It took me almost 12 years to finally make the plunge… but even through that long wait for the right moment, I never doubted that I would be my own boss eventually.

In 2014, I started Molly Marshall Marketing as a side-hustle. I opened a premium account with eLance (now Upwork) for $10 and got my first client. After serving a handful of clients in all different industries, I wanted to share the tips and strategies of what I KNEW worked to build a business online.

In 2015, I started blogging regularly and creating courses so I could teach even more small business owners and online entrepreneurs how to systematically and simply grow an online presence that they can make money from.

I’m known for my approachable, “let me show you” advice that proves growing a small business through digital marketing is simple… all while never pretending that it’s easy.
